Features- Wonderful views
- Walk to Portofino
- Direct sea access
DescriptionEntering the main gate from the pedestrian walkway, a lovely garden walk leads down to a large wisteria covered pergola on the upper level of the villa. Ahead the impossibly blue seas of Portofino bay provide an alluring setting for the villages of Santa Margherita and Rapallo on the opposite shore. Large French doors lead from the terrazzo into a spacious living room with large divans, reading alcoves and through into a spacious dining room with views over the garden. The kitchen is not beautiful, but functional, containing all the facilities one would expect in a villa of this quality – dishwasher, two fridges, large oven, gas stove. Teresa, the resident housekeeper is a wonderful cook and pleased to cook up local dishes that are particularly popular amongst guests (extra). Behind the living area and overlooking the sea are a study, two double/twin bedrooms and a single bedroom that share two bathrooms on the other side of the corridor and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. One of the bedrooms has garden rather than sea views. Stairs lead down to the ground floor where there are two twin bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and the housekeepers lodging. Externally, the villa offers expansive gardens and three main entertainment areas. The large Wisteria covered terrazzo serves as an outdoor living and dining room for summer living and enjoying the views. At 50 metres is an old tower with a panoramic sundeck with 250° views over the sea and around the headland. It is a perfect place for sunbathing or evening aperitivo. Below the villa, a walkway and 112 stairs lead down to a lovely natural rock swimming and sunbathing platform. It can also be used for boat transfers and this type of sea access is very unique for the area.

Placed in a picturesque small cove at the top of a headland of the same name, Portofino is one of the most famous VIP resorts celebrated for its luxury tourism and the famous people who own homes there. However, it has much more to offer, starting at its natural beauties. The headland and its surrounding enjoy a unique ecosystem and were declared a protected area in 1977. Portofino is the only village of any size on the headland and numerous walking trails lead from there to the ancient monastery at at San Fruttoso and the lovely Punta (point) Chiappa.

Vernazza
The second of the Cinque Terra towns from the northern end (between Monterosso and Corniglia), Vernazza is probably recognised as the prettiest of the 5 villages. The small fishing port is protected by a tallish headland and has the benefit of a small but lovely sandy beach, overlooked by the main piazza, and the colourful buildings cascading down the hills surrounding it.
Santa Margherita
Situated at the southern end of the Portofino peninsula and providing gateway access to the exclusive resort, Santa Margherita is a lively town set around a lovely bay with sandy beaches and picturesque headlands. In typical Ligurian style, most of the colourful buildings in town feature magnificent trompe-l'oeil designs which add to the beauty of the town. Santa Margherita is located just 4 short kilometres from Portofino and can be reached by ferry, foot, or bus. Cars cannot be driven there in high season.
