Description

Villa Desio has been designed to make the most of its peaceful position in 10,000 sqm of fenced gardens and parkland surrounding with a further 2 ha (5 acres) of surrounding forest. From the carpark, gravel pathways lead down through impeccably maintained mediterranean gardens to the traditional stone villa that for many generations has been the much loved country house of a Florentine noble family. In the garden below the villa is an infinity pool and gazebo which overlooks the valley and hills beyond.

The villa from the 14th century is luminous and decorated in a very comfortable country style incorporating antique furniture, original artworks and terracotta paved floors. There are two main entrances into living rooms on the ground and first floors. The principle entrance is on the ground floor which opens into a small coat room, passing into a delightful living area comprising a large living room with libraries of antique volumes and a dining room with antique dining table. French doors open onto a large furnished terrace, perfect for alfresco dining during the summer season. The adjoining kitchen has a large breakfast table and all modern conveniences and also opens out onto the terrace.

An internal stairway goes up to the first floor living room with large fireplace, entertainment centre and access to a portico balcony with stairs down to the garden. On this level there are two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, of which one has a jacuzzi bath, and a further bedroom with ensuite bathroom is situated on the third level.

A few metres from the house is a covered loggia that is also furnished for outdoor dining and positioned to take advantage of summer breezes. The swimming pool, situated approximately 40 m below the villa along sloping pathways is surrounded by a lovely grassy area furnished with sun lounges and an adjacent pergola equipped with table and chairs, barbeque and reclining chairs. A change room with bathroom and refrigerator are situated under the pergola.

Position

Villa Desio is situated approximately seven km from Greve in Chianti. From the road, a driveway of approximately 300m leads to electric gates and the parking area. The villa is situated a further 200m along pathways.

2012 prices are provisional and may be revised, however most owners will accept bookings at 2011 prices until the new prices are confirmed. Please send an enquiry and we'll respond with a firm quote.

Refundable security deposit

A refundable security deposit of €1,500.00 is payable on arrival at the villa (can be in equivalent $US or £GBP). The deposit will be refunded on final inspection excepting in the event of damage or for the deduction of extras.

Included in Villa Rental

• Cleaning and final cleaning including four hours of daily cleaning from Monday to Saturday
• One set of clean linen per week of occupation (change on Saturdays)
• Gardener every afternoon from Monday to Saturday

Additional services and charges - payable locally (in Euros):

• Additional maid service can be requested from Morena at a cost of €14.00 per hour payable directly to her
• Morena is also an excellent cook and available to do the shopping and prepare meals
• Midweek changes of linen are available at a cost of €35 per bedroom
• Electricity is charged based on metered usage (pool consumption excluded)
• Gas for house heating during winter months is paid on the basis of usage. Kitchen gas is included.
• Telephone and ADSL is charged based on usage
• Late arrival fees - we will endeavour to accommodate, but cannot guarantee to satisfy requests for late arrival. The cost of pre-arranged late arrival (if available) will be advised at the time of booking. Unforeseen delays resulting in out of hours arrivals (if available) will incur a charge of € 50.00 payable to the local manager;

Siena

Siena is one of the most beautiful towns of Tuscany and perhaps Italy. Surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of Chianti the town is set on three hills and is mostly pedenstrian only. At the centre of the town is the large Piazza del Campo, noted for the Palio horse race held each July and August and full of activity year round. An important university town, Siena has wonderful outdoor cafes, piazzas, churches and museums.

Florence

The hub of the Renaissance; one of the world’s most architecturally beautiful cities; with countless museums and galleries crammed with masterpieces; and with marvellous shopping and tremendous cuisine and restaurants; it’s perhaps unsurprising that Florence is also very busy with tourists.
