The small village of Monte del Lago is situated on a small promontory and during the middle ages served to control movements along the Trasimeno to Perugia road. Fortified in the 16th century, the town was surrounded by rock walls, much of which is still intact. Of note in the town are the Church of Sant'Andrea which frescos from the C15th and the Villa Palombaro Schnabl restructured in C19th.
