Sorento is known for being the starting point for hiking and walking through Lattari Mountain (17 km), located close to the Sorrentine Peninsula. It is only 45 minutes away from Pompeii, which you should visit. Here you can see what remains of the city since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius 2000 years ago. Many of the ruins are well preserved. You can also reach Mount Vesuvius in just over an hour. It offers dramatic views and walks. You can catch a ride from Sorrenta to Naples (49 kms), or other parts of Italy, by walking 500m from the villa. For a family-friendly day on the beach, you can head to Amalfi Coast (35.5km), where there are a variety of water sports and sandy beaches.
