Best Florence Villas for Rent

Florence was ranked as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe by Condé Nast Traveller magazine—and it’s easy to see why. The city is known for its breathtaking art and architecture, and is home to some of the world’s most famous museums and historic monuments.

And there’s more to discover about Florence beyond art and culture. Come and savour the mouthwatering Florentine cuisine, admire the city’s picturesque gardens and bask in the stillness of the Tuscan countryside. Florence also makes a great base for day trips to neighbouring cities in Italy, including Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo.

Villas in Florence

Our portfolio features a wide range of luxury villas in Florence, located in areas within and around the city popular with travellers. These include neighbourhoods that are a stone’s throw away from the city centre, hilltop towns, or areas surrounded by the lush Tuscan countryside.

We are proud of our hand-picked selection of Florence villas, each of which are inspected with care to meet our standards of excellence. When you book a vacation rental with us, you’re choosing from the best of holiday homes that the destination has to offer.

Family activities and attractions in Florence

Florence is a city steeped in history, and alive with culture. Home to numerous museums, galleries and monuments, it’s where Florence villa vacationers get to experience the best of Italy’s art and culture.

The Uffizi Gallery—one of the most famous art museums in the world—houses an impressive collection of Renaissance art, including artworks by renowned artists like Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

From here, you’re just 15 minutes’ walk away to the Accademia Gallery, an art gallery that’s best known for its collection of sculptures by Michelangelo. If you’re visiting with young children, consider signing them up for a kid-friendly tour of the Accademia, organised by tour operator ArtViva.

Another child-friendly option is the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, an interactive museum with hands-on exhibits and activities. Do note that there are two Leonardo da Vinci Museums in Florence, so make sure you visit the one located at the Via dei Servi 66.

Don’t miss out on visiting the city’s most iconic landmark—the Florence Cathedral. Also known as the Duomo, the cathedral was completed over a course of two centuries, and features a variety of architecture styles.

Head up to the top of the dome, and you’ll be rewarded with uninterrupted views over the city. But bear in mind that the stairs are steep, so this might not be a suitable activity for young children or anyone with a fear of heights.

From the Duomo, you’re within walking distance to other historic landmarks in the city. These include the Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio and Basilica of Santa Croce.

The architectural beauty in Florence isn’t just limited to monuments and buildings—but also extends out to include natural spaces. The city is known for its lush gardens and parks, the most famous of which are the Rose Garden, Bardini Gardens, and Boboli Gardens. The latter is located just behind the Pitti Palace, so combine your trip here with a visit to the palace.

A bike tour is a great way for Florence villa vacationers to take in the sights and sounds of the city. The terrain is mostly flat, which enables cyclists to get around easily. There are a variety of family-friendly bike tours that will take you to attractions and trails beyond the city too, such as the Medici villas, Chianti wine region and mountain biking trails.

Restaurants, cafes and bars in Florence

There are many similarities between Florentine and Tuscan cuisines. The focus is on simplicity, and using fresh local produce. Hearty meat dishes, along with ingredients like cheese and legumes are staples in the local diet.

The city boasts a vibrant dining scene, leaving Florence villa vacationers with plenty of dining options. You’ll find fine dining venues, pizzerias and trattorias alongside fusion restaurants, vegan eateries and food trucks.

Don’t miss out on sampling the local street food fare, which include specialties like lampredotto (a tripe sandwich) and scacciata con la salsiccia (a flatbread stuffed with sausage).

Some of Florence’s most sought-after dining venues include Michelin-starred restaurants like La Bottega del Buon Caffè, Enoteca Pinchiorri and Borgo San Jacopo. Tuck into some of the city’s best seafood dishes at L’Angolo del Mare, a cosy 25-seater restaurant perfect for intimate dinners with friends and family. If you’re travelling with young children, check out kid-friendly venues like Mercato Centrale, L’Ortone or Trattoria Zà Zà.

Self-catering can be an option too. We offer centrally located properties set in the heart of the city, with plenty of shops, bakeries and markets nearby offering quality ingredients for an Italian feast at your Florence villa. Or leave the shopping and menu planning to a private chef—all you need to do is sit back, and let the restaurant experience be brought right to your table.
