10/10What can I say, I have lived long enough to go to some foreign destinations more than once. It certainly is not a common occurrence but when it came to a repeat destination, Italia, Umbria and Il Fontanaro were just what the doctor ordered! Oh, the bright days, the warm soft nights, the distinctive food and wine like a lover’s kiss! This place, these people and this food are like a tonic to the soul. As happened 6 years ago, we stayed in Fonte Cicerum, a wonderful villa with vistas to die for, comfortable yet with a simplicity that makes the bands of tension from a busy life fade. I almost hoped that Wi-Fi was not available…alas, I still had contact with the outside world. The villa offered a full kitchen, laundry, both indoor and outdoor dining rooms and the pool! This trip we had both friends and family along. All had lovely rooms and felt the relaxation. We had plans (not too demanding) to go to surrounding areas (Cortona, Spello, Assisi) and wineries but we’re also given ideas and help from Alina for others. We had seen much, wandering through ancient streets, meeting kind people, eating amazing food and, of course the wine…. I even got a hike in the hills in one morning! Fantastic! Alina and, of course, the incomparable Lucia greeted us for the creation of an Italian meal. Good lord! We made it all and with Alina’s help it tasted great! Pictures to last a lifetime were taken. (See enclosed) Don’t forget to check out the wine cellar. If you want to be pampered this is not the place for you. If you are an explorer, wanderer, want a story to tell or just want life to chill out for a while, then you’d be remiss in not considering this lovely, stunning place. We will be back.
