This is my second visit back to Il Fontanero and I rarely ever visit a place twice so that's how special this is! Alina & her mother Lucia have created warm welcoming holiday homes that are beautifully decorated and thoughtfully provided for down to the fully equipped kitchen, antique dressers, well stocked larder and welcome gifts of home made orange marmalade, honey & wine. The gardens are gorgeous with flowers blooming, green grass & birds chirping. My mother & i liked nothing better than to relax in the comfy lounge chairs at our porch to read or doze off during our 4 day stay. We rented a small auto mercedes from auralago recommended by Alina- picked the car up at the chiusi chianciano terme after arriving from rome & Maurizio kindly led the way to Il fontanero. (Note: GPS here takes a bit of getting used to- a lot of windy roads & roundabouts) We especially enjoyed Montepulciano- a lovely hill top town with lots of interesting shops, also visited Cortona & Citta della pieve (all hill towns within an hr's drive). The town of Paciano is within walking distance and we walked there for dinner. My all time favourite family run restaurant there is La Logetta. Superb lamb leg stuffed with truffles & tiramisu. Oh and that terrace view of the magnificent sunset. Best of all is the warmth & love from Alina & Lucia ( and their dogs & cat). They make the place special and take very good care of their guests! We will be back!!
